Dear people of tumblr, I know how caring and awesome you can be! My grandpa, who is the happiest, friendliest person I know, has been battling non-hodgkins lymphoma for almost a year now. He is nearing the end of his treatment which will be very, very intense, but his insurance company told him that he has already reached his prescription coverage gap, meaning that my family needs to pay out of pocket for an unknown period of time before the insurance company will continue paying. Apparently, this is common. I think it is the most absurd thing.
Anyway, he needed injections costing $32,000, which I guess count as prescriptions, before he could continue his treatments. He has received these and is now having some sort of stem cell treatment along with ultra intense chemotherapy which is going to destroy his immune system for up to 2 years.
So to help my grandparents afford all of this, my family is doing everything we can to help raise the money for his treatments; we hosted a spaghetti dinner/raffle, a Zumbathon, sold “a million” cookies, and we have more events coming up. If you’re anywhere near Walden, NY on May 30th, come have spaghetti at the Walden Firehouse. I also started an online FundRazr campaign to help with that effort. If you could please reblog this, or donate if you can, I would be extremely grateful and send you lots of cat pictures and stuff.
You can donate HERE! :)
Or you could mail him an anonymous get well soon card. That would totally make his day!! Send it to:

[F]or the first several years the SAT was offered, males scored higher than females on the Math section but females achieved higher scores on the Verbal section. ETS policy-makers determined that the Verbal test needed to be “balanced” more in favor of males, and added questions pertaining to politics, business and sports to the Verbal portion. Since that time, males have outscored females on both the Math and Verbal sections. Dwyer notes that no similar effort has been made to “balance” the Math section, and concludes that, “It could be done, but it has not been, and I believe that probably an unconscious form of sexism underlies this pattern. When females show the superior performance, ‘balancing’ is required; when males show the superior performance, no adjustments are necessary.”
